citizenAID Shortlisted for Counter Terror Awards

citizenAID is delighted to announce it has been shortlisted for the Counter Terrorism Education Project Award in the Counter Terror Awards 2018.

The tragic and reprehensible series of contemporary deliberate attacks has forced communities to act: as a direct result, increasingly sophisticated strategies and technologies are being employed by organisations worldwide.

The Counter Terror Awards have been established to recognise the efforts of both public and private sector organisations, which contribute to the counter terror strategy across the UK and overseas. This includes the vital roles played by the military and emergency services in mitigating terrorist threats.

The Counter Terrorism Education Project Award is specifically for organisations or partnerships who have developed and implemented measures to help combat the threat of radicalisation in educational or religious institutions.

In being shortlisted, citizenAID have impressed judges with its creation of a smartphone app, printed pocket guide and dedicated training programme to empower the public to ‘Be Prepared Not Scared’, whilst equipping them with the knowledge and skillset to help save the lives of others in the unlikely but possible event of a deliberate attack.

Co-Founder of citizenAID, Brigadier Tim Hodgetts, confirmed: “citizenAID is honoured to be shortlisted in the Counter Terror Awards 2018, and as a team we are delighted to see that the initiative is being recognised for its vital role in helping the public ‘Be Prepared, Not Scared’. We wish all those short listed good luck and applaud all the collective efforts in education that can mitigate the effects of a deliberate attack.”

The Counter Terror Awards are held as part of the UK Security & Counter Terror Expo, which is a two-day event, taking place 6th & 7th March and will bring 10,000 plus professionals together to showcase the capabilities, strategies and intelligence, which keeps nations, infrastructure, businesses and the public safe.
