CT-EXPO 2018 - NATIONAL AWARD WIN!

citizenAID attended the CT Expo this year in the knowledge we had been shortlisted for a national award to recognise the contribution to countering terrorism.

What a great day this was for us and our thanks are extended to all those who have helped us to the position where we received the award for "National Counter Terrorism Project 2018".

Special thanks are to Hannah who spotted the opportunity to compete for the award: you have to be in it to win it!

The awards were made by Sir Michael Fallon and we were up against very strong competition. Our congratulations go out to all those in the category and we are proud to have been considered alongside them.

We were also proud to share the stage with an another award winner, Mark Rowley, who has headed up the Counter Terrorism effort in the UK over the last several years and is now retiring.

We applaud his work and wish him well with what he decides to do next.

Thank you too to the volunteers who helped to build the citizenAID stand so we could raise awareness of our initiative with the visiting delegates.

A special mention to Benjamin Weld, Thomas Williams, and Joseph Mabbutt who all stepped up to help us as our opportunity to display was provided at very short notice. We are pleased to see them in the photo wearing their citizenAID badges!

We believe the success of citizenAID is determined by communities pulling together to share information and to help each other better understand how to react to the unusual and traumatic situation of a deliberate attack. Being prepared means that lives can potentially be saved.

We are grateful to the support we have received from NaCTSO (National Counter Terrorism Security Office) since the inception of the initiative.

At the CT Expo, two CTSA's (Counter Terrorism Security Advisors) spent time talking in detail with us about how citizenAID fits with the national police message of Run, Hide Tell to make the integrated message of Run, Hide, Tell and Treat (when safe to do so).
